The maple-Bock , even tobacco Colored Schmalbock ( Alosterna tabacicolor ) is a beetle from the family of longhorn beetles (Cerambycidae) of the Palaearctic is widespread.

features

The field maple buck is a 6 to 8 millimeter long, slender and delicate longhorn beetle. The head, the pronotum and the upper part of the wings are dark in color, the remaining wings are brown-yellow, the seam and the sides are darkened. The pronotum is longer than it is wide, the sides behind the center are concave and curved inward. This and also the wing are finely hairy golden. The legs of the animals are brown-yellow, rarely the ends of the legs are dark-colored. In some specimens, a dark, oval spot is formed on the wing cover seam.

Occurrence

The species is distributed over the whole of Europe, the Middle East and Siberia to Japan. It is usually quite common in Central Europe. It occurs from the plains down to the lower mountain ranges, especially in forests, in the southern Alps they also live in higher areas. You can find them from May to August, but especially in July.

Way of life

The beetles often sit on umbellifers and on the forest goat's beard . The larvae live for two years in arid, dry branches of hardwood, the bark of which they eat. Elm, oak, maple, willow, hazel, hornbeam and birch are mentioned. Exceptionally, the development also takes place in softwood species such as spruce or pine.
