Relegation matches

In the following season the league was increased from 10 to 12 teams. One of the two additional places resulted from the fact that after the main round in 2009/2010 only the last one was relegated and, as before, the two group winners of the 2nd division rose. The remaining place was played between the penultimate of the 1st Bundesliga and the two runners-up in the 2nd Bundesliga .
