Felipe Codallos (* 1790 in Puebla , Mexico ; † ibid) was Captain General of the Province of El Salvador in 1823, Capitán General of the Province of Guatemala in the Mexican Empire from November 22, 1822 to March 7, 1823, and Governor of Puebla from 1837 to 1840 .

Life

Codallos married Dona García Granados, a daughter of José Vicente García Granados Zavala (1798–1873).

The Central American Confederation was annexed by the first Mexican Empire under Agustín de Itúrbide in 1822. The Partido Liberal from the province of El Salvador fought against this annexation .

In Mexico in November 1821 a brigade under the command of Vicente Filisola and his deputy Felipe Codallos was marched; a large number of the soldiers deserted. New troops were raised in Chiapas , and Filísola finally arrived in Guatemala City with 600 soldiers . Vicente Filísola then occupied San Salvador with troops from Mexico, Guatemala and San Miguel (El Salvador) . The place where the Mexicans camped is now called Mejicanos. On February 7, 1823, a battle between supporters and opponents of the annexation took place near Marionas, during which the opponents of the annexation commanded Antonio José Cañas Quintanilla , since Manuel José Arce y Fagoaga was ill.

Vicente Filisola took over the post of Capitán General of the province of El Salvador in the Mexican Empire from February 9 to May 7, 1823. On May 7, 1923 Vicente Filisola gave the post of Capitán General to his deputy Codallos and returned to the province of Guatemala back. On May 25, 1823, the Cabildo de Españoles de San Salvador had issued weapons to the population. General Codallos withdrew with 500 soldiers. From November 22, 1822 to March 7, 1823 Codallos was Capitán General of the Guatemala Province in the Mexican Empire. After the end of the Mexican empire, he returned to Mexico. From 1837 to 1840 he was governor of the Department of Puebla . On December 11, 1840, he laid the foundation stone for a model prison in the Colegio de San Javier en Tepotzotlán.

Awards

On March 17, 1841, he received a cross of honor for an action in Azcapotzalco .
