Felipe Daudt de Oliveira

Felipe Daudt de Oliveira , also Felipe de Oliveira , (born August 23, 1890 in Santa Maria da Boca do Monte , State of Rio Grande do Sul , Brazil ; † February 17, 1933 in Auxerre , France ) was a Brazilian poet of German descent.

Life

He was born to Felipe Alves de Oliveira and Maria Adelaide Daudt de Oliveira. His father was murdered for political reasons. He came from a rich family of industrialists. He had been working as a music critic for the newspaper " Correio do Povo " since he was 16 . He graduated as a pharmacist and chemist in 1908 after having attended the renowned Faculdade Livre de Medicina e Farmacia in Porto Alegre . As a student he worked as an author for various newspapers and magazines, such as Correio da Manha, Fon-Fon , Gazeta de Noticias , Ilustracao Brasileira , O combatente . His first volume of verses appeared in 1911. He wrote his poetry in magazines always under the pseudonym " Gavarin ". In 1932 he had to go into exile for political reasons and went to France. There he died after a car accident. His brother founded the " Sociedade Felipe de Oliveira " after his death in 1933 , which was supposed to secure and maintain his work and estate.

A street on the world famous Copacabana bears his name.

His lyrics are often referred to as neo - symbolism . He was buried in Sao João Batista, State of Rio de Janeiro .
