Felix Alexandrovich Beresin
Felix Alexandrowitsch Beresin ( Russian Феликс Александрович Березин , English transliteration Felix Alexandrovich Berezin; born April 25, 1931 in Moscow ; † July 14, 1980 in the Kolyma region) was a Russian mathematician and theoretical physicist , father of "super mathematics ".
Beresin studied at Lomonosov University in Moscow and then taught at Moscow schools for three years, as he was initially refused a doctorate because of his Jewish origins. On the side, however, he continued to attend Israel Gelfand's seminar . After more liberal times had dawned under Khrushchev , he joined the mathematics faculty of Lomonosov University in 1956, where he received his doctorate ( Russian doctorate ) in 1957 under Gelfand ( Russian doctorate ) and was a professor.
Beresin is known as the pioneer of the introduction of " supersymmetric methods in quantum field theory " (anti- commutating Graßmann variable for the representation of fermion fields in path integrals ) and mathematics (where corresponding integrals are called Berezin integrals).
Beresin was married and had a daughter. He drowned in a summer trip with a geological expedition in the region Kolyma in Siberia when she River Seimtschan sailed, a tributary of the Kolyma.
