Felix Friedl (born June 24, 1996 in Bruck an der Mur ) is an Austrian beach volleyball player .

Career

Felix Friedl discovered his passion for beach volleyball in Italy, Lignano, at the age of twelve. In the first few years, however, he mainly played indoor volleyball at the Vienna Hotvolleys . His first successes on the sand were with Niklas Maurer. Together they reached first place at the Vienna State Championships in the U18 age group. With Moritz Pristauz Friedl won the Central European U20 Championships in Brno in August 2015. Furthermore, they finished ninth at the U21 World Cup in Lucerne the following year. With his partner Lucas Skrabal , Felix Friedl celebrated numerous top ten results in the top Austrian league, as well as in several international competitions. Their greatest mutual successes include a third place at the four-nation tournament in Sydney and a fifth place at the 2017 FIVB tournament in Shepparton , Australia. With Moritz Kindl from Vienna , he currently holds the title of Carinthian regional champion . In 2018 Friedl achieved two fifth places alongside Maximilian Trummer at the FIVB 1-star tournaments in Manila and Poreč .

Private

Felix Friedl, son of Edmund and Brigitte Friedl, grew up in Vienna, graduated from Polgargymnasium and is currently studying sports science at the University of Vienna. His parents and sister Nini Friedl support him on his way to a professional career. Due to a torn cruciate ligament and two meniscus tears , he was forced to take a break from sports several times.
