Ferdinand Oscar Finne (born October 12, 1910 in Kristiania , † December 31, 1999 in Oslo ) was a Norwegian painter, graphic artist, theater decorator and writer.

family

Finnes parents were the lawyer Severin Finne and his wife Esther , daughter of the Norwegian businessman Ferdinand Julian Egeberg.

Professional career

From 1935 to 1938 Finne designed costumes for the Norwegian National Theater. He continued his artistic training during the Second World War under the guidance of the Austrian expressionist painter Oskar Kokoschka in London . He then studied at the Norwegian National Art Academy in Oslo. He is the author of numerous articles and books on art-related topics. He is represented in the Norwegian National Gallery with several artistic works.

Others

Finne was appointed a First Class Knight of the Order of Saint Olav by the Norwegian King for his “versatile artistic work” . In his older days he became a member of the St. Olaus Masonic Lodge on the Three Pillars in Oslo.
