St. John's Lodge St. Olaus til de tre Søiler
St. Olaus zu den three columns (Norwegian: St. Johanneslogen St. Olaus til de tre Søiler ) is a Johannisloge within the Norwegian Order of Freemasons ( Den Norske Frimurerorden , St. Johannesloge nr. 8). The lodge was founded on May 2, 1903 in Oslo - then called "Kristiania" - and is subject to the rules of the Great Norwegian Lodge ( Den Norske Store Landsloge ). Her name refers to Olav the saint . The three pillars refer to a Masonic temple , these symbolize wisdom, strength and beauty. The lodge's Latin motto is: E Tenebris ad Lucem , Norwegian : Fra Mørket til Lyset , in German: From darkness to light .
The "Søilene" is today the largest St. John's Lodge with a membership of over 1000 Freemasons. It celebrated its centenary in 2003 with its sister lodge, the "Rosene" St. Johanneslogen St. Olaus til de tre Roser (German: St. Johannisloge St. Olav to the three roses). On the same day, on May 2, 1903 (St Olaus til de tre Søiler 4:00 p.m. and St. Olaus til de tre Roser - 2:00 p.m. later, at 6:00 p.m.), both lodges became the oldest Norwegian Masonic lodge, St. Johanneslogen St. Olaus til den hvide leopard (Saint Olav to the white leopard).

Behring Breivik is different
The assassin of the Oslo and Utøya attacks in 2011 , Anders Behring Breivik , was a member of the Christian-oriented St. Olaus til de tre Søiler lodge , where he is said to have obtained the third degree , until his crime became known .
The then reigning Grand Master of the Norwegian Freemasons, Ivar A. Skar, stated after the perpetrator became known on the organization's website: “[...] After it became known in the media that the accused was a member of the Norwegian Order of Freemasons, he was expelled with immediate effect .
The exclusion was decided based on the actions of the accused. The values that motivated him to do this are completely incompatible with what we stand for. [...] The police will of course get all the support and information they need to clarify. "
After the attacks became known, the Grand Master of the United Grand Lodge of Germany , Rüdiger Templin, issued a statement with a translation of the declaration of the Grand Lodge of Norway.
