At home in the Magdeburger Börde , an important growing area for sugar beet , he dealt with this crop and invented the schnitzel press , which was of great importance for processing sugar beet. In 1857 he was a member of the VDI district association for Magdeburg and the surrounding area . In 1860 he became the sole owner of the company and renamed it Friedrich August Klusemann Maschinenbauanstalt & Eisengießerei , the factory was in Sudenburg . In 1872, he converted it to the corporation under the company Sudenburger Maschinenfabrik & iron foundry AG to. The tasks included the construction of sugar beet factories at home and abroad, as well as the construction of plants for chemical factories. Klusemann had a villa built on Kaiserstraße (today Otto-von-Guericke-Straße), which was sold to the Harmonie-Gesellschaft in 1906 and which today serves as the seat of the Freie Kammerspiele Magdeburg . His wish to build a family foundation to support the poor and needy was fulfilled by his wife after his death with a donation of 60,000 marks .
