Ferdinand Michel

Ferdinand "Ferdl" Michel (* 1959 in Würzburg ) is a German basketball trainer and former player.

career

Michel moved as a basketball player in 1979 from the second division TG Würzburg to USC Bayreuth in the basketball league . In the 1980/81 season he played for the second division Aschaffenburg and from 1981 for the DJK Würzburg, with which he was promoted to the 2nd basketball division . From 1989 he was coach of the second division women of the DJK Würzburg, from 1994 to 1996 he then coached the women of the DJK Bamberg in the Bundesliga. Würzburg who studied business administration led Michel and since 1993 full time as a computer trainer and -dozent working as a trainer in the following years numerous youth, women's and men's teams, including the 2009/10 U19 team of Würzburg Baskets in the junior Basketball Bundesliga (NBBL). In 2013, together with his wife Janet Fowler-Michel , he took over the management of the second division women of the TG Würzburg as a coaching team: Fowler-Michel as head coach and Michel as assistant coach. In addition, he became head of the basketball department at TG Würzburg from September 2014. He has two children with his wife, Janet.

Michel was involved in the Lower Franconia district of the Bavarian Basketball Association as a member of the youth committee and as a coaching officer.
