Ferdinand Zechmeister (born December 22, 1927 - November 30, 1998 ) was an Austrian football player.

Career

Ferdinand Zechmeister began his professional career in the Austrian capital and spent a total of five years on the ball for Post SV Wien , Wiener AC and Wiener Sport-Club . From 1951 he wore the jersey of the Linz ASK in the State League A and became 1953 appointed to the Austrian national team for the first time . In the 1954/55 season Zechmeister rose with the club from this, so he played in the following season in the second highest division of Austrian football, the state league B. The team could not end the season on a promotion place and Zechmeister moved to Stuttgart Stuttgart Kickers . However, the Austrian also rose with the Kickers after two seasons in the first-class Oberliga Süd . In the following year Zechmeister made a significant contribution to the direct resurgence with 18 goals in 34 games. In the 1959/60 season, however, he was only able to record eight missions and returned to Linz at the end of the season. With a game in the 1963 European Cup Winners' Cup against Dinamo Zagreb , as well as the double win in the Austrian championship and cup, Zechmeister was able to record the greatest successes in his football career during this time.

Others

In November 2008 Zechmeister was elected the Linz ASK player of the century .
