Ferenc Deák (born January 16, 1922 in Budapest , † April 18, 1998 ) was a Hungarian football player .

career

Deák began his career at Szentlőrinci AC , for whom he played from 1935 to 1947. In the 1945/46 season he was able to achieve 66 goals this season for Szentlörinci AC in 34 league games and thus holds the record for the most goals this season in a European league. In the 1946/47 season he was again top scorer, this time with 48 goals. He then moved to Ferencváros Budapest , for whom he played until 1950. There he scored 41 goals in his first year.

In his second year at Ferencváros Budapest, 1948/49, he was then with 59 goals for the third time top scorer and he was able to win the championship with the club. In 1950 he finally moved to Újpest Budapest , where he played until 1954. During his career he played a total of 238 league games (1st division) in which he scored 305 goals. From 1955 he let his career in the 2nd division with Spartacus Budapest, Egyetértés Budapest and finally in 1958 with Siófok end.

Between 1946 and 1949 he played twenty times for the Hungarian national team and scored 29 goals. He made his national team debut on October 6, 1946 at the international match in Budapest against Austria, when he was able to distinguish himself as a two-time goalscorer in the 2-0 win alongside Gyula Zsengellér and Ferenc Puskás . He was a member of the Hungarian squad that won the European Cup for National Football Teams from 1948 to 1953 . With the 5-0 success on November 20, 1949 in Budapest against Sweden - goalscorers were Sándor Kocsis (3), Puskás and Deák - he ended his national team career.
