Mazlum Kobane

Mazlum Kobanê , also Mazlum Abdi , (born around 1967 or 1972 ) is a high-ranking leader of the PKK and commander in chief of the Syrian Democratic Forces (QSD). In this role, Kobanê led the fight against the Islamic State in Syria as an ally of the USA .

Life

The real name of Mazlum Kobanês is Ferhat Abdi Şahin. Under his nom de guerre Şahin Cilo, Mazlum Kobanê was a high-ranking PKK functionary who had worked closely with Öcalan in exile in Syria since the 1990s and later took an active role in building the PKK in Europe.

According to information from the organizational media, Mazlum Kobanê was still a member of the Executive Council of the PKK's manifestation, Koma Civakên Kurdistan, in 2013 .

Turkish sources report that Mazlum Kobanê joined the PKK in 1990. In 1996 he was active in the Şemdinli region . From 1997 to 2003, Kobanê was in Europe and in 2003/2004 he was in the Machmur refugee camp controlled by the PKK . In 2005 he rose to the PKK leadership and from 2009 to 2012 commanded a special unit of the PKK guerrilla Hêzên Parastina Gel . He then took on tasks in the Syrian part of Kurdistan. Mazlum Kobanê ranks 9th on the wanted list in Turkey.
