Fernández is the capital of the Robles department in the province of Santiago del Estero in north-western Argentina . Because of its importance for agriculture Fernandez is nicknamed "Capital del Agro". The city is 49 kilometers from the provincial capital Santiago del Estero and is connected to it via the Ruta Nacional 34 . In the classification of the municipalities of the province, it is divided into the 2nd category municipality. Fernandez is also known as the capital of agriculture. There are two driveways to the Autoruta called Acceso Norte and Sur. To the north of Autoruta 34 is the "Las Americas" district in which the Fundacion Centro de Capacitation de Fernández is located, a foundation that was founded in 1984 by the Swabian pastor Sepp Majer. Otherwise Fernández offers few incentives for a longer stay.
