Fernand Picot

Fernand Picot (born May 10, 1930 in Pontivy , France, † October 23, 2017 ) was a French cyclist .

Picot won a stage of the International Peace Drive in 1954 and finished fourth in the overall ranking. At that time he had the status of an independent and could start in races for amateurs and professional drivers. He then became a professional athlete in 1955 and won the overall classification and two stages of the Tour de Champagne as a neoprofi .

As a professional rider, Picot took part in the Tour de France eight times and reached the finish line in Paris in seven. His best place in the overall standings was 13th in the 1957 Tour de France . He wore the green jersey of the best sprinter several times.

Picot won three stages at the Critérium du Dauphiné Libéré , which he finished third overall in 1956, and one stage each at Paris – Nice and the GP Midi Libre . In 1961 he won the annual ranking for the Super Prestige Pernod scoring one-day races Genoa-Nice and the 1961 and 1963 Grand Prix Ouest France .

After the end of the 1965 season, Picot ended his professional career.
