Fernando Dias Gusmão

Fernando Dias Gusmão (born May 21, 1973 in Balibo in Portuguese Timor ) is a politician from East Timor .

Gusmão studied social and political science.

From 2001 to 2007 Gusmão was parliamentary group leader of the Partido Social Democrata (PSD) . On December 7, 2008, the election of the successor to the previous PSD party chairman, Mário Viegas Carrascalão, led to a voting vote between the incumbent Foreign Minister Zacarias da Costa and Gusmão, who was General Secretary of the PSD at that time. When Gusmão lost the vote, he left the PSD and founded the Partido do Desenvolvimento Nacional (PDN) with supporters in 2009 . Gusmão became president of the PDN.
