Communications Officer (Navy)

The telecommunications officer (FMO) is a section head for radio and signaling services on board a warship of the German Navy . He is subordinate to the main section head of main section 600 ( ship operations ), the first ship operations officer and under disciplinary law to the first officer of the ship.

According to the strength and equipment certificate (StAN), officers with the rank of lieutenant at sea or first lieutenant at sea of the troop service are usually provided for filling the post . The post is seldom taken over by an officer of the military technical service .

Subordinate to him are a signal master , several radio masters as well as NCOs and crews .
