The telecommunications tower Birkholzaue (or decimeter tower ) is a 110 meter high telecommunications tower near Birkholzaue in Bernau near Berlin in the state of Brandenburg .
history
The telecommunications tower was built on behalf of the Ministry of Post and Telecommunications . For the foundation pit, 3175 cubic meters of earth had to be dug. The tower has a height of 110 meters without antenna. By December 1958, the tower reached a height of 80 meters, had a diameter of 5.40 meters and the wall thickness was 15 centimeters. The tower was completed in autumn 1959. After that, other specialist companies began to work on the interior and so an elevator system was installed in the middle of the tower .
