The Qingdao TV tower is a 232 m high steel lattice tower with a viewing platform completed in 1984 on the 116 m high Taiping Hill in Julin Hill Park in Qingdao , People's Republic of China . The tower cage is spherical and houses a viewing platform below at a height of 160 m, which houses various souvenir stands and a café and was only opened to the public in the 1990s. During the Olympic sailing competitions in 2008 a raffle booth in the platform became known among tourists, which raffled off Olympic VIP tickets wrapped in golden eggs.
