Ferocactus eastwoodiae is a species of the genus Ferocactus in the cactus family(Cactaceae).

description

Ferocactus eastwoodiae grows individually with short to long cylindrical shoots and reaches heights of up to 3 meters with diameters of 30 centimeters. There are 18 to 27 slightly humped ribs . The yellowish to straw-colored thorns are very close together to partially cover the shoots. The mostly four central spines are arranged crosswise and 7.5 to 8 inches long. The top and bottom of them are wider and thicker, the lower one is also slightly curved. 12 to 14 radial spines, mostly fluted, are somewhat flattened, flexible and irregularly curved. They have a length of 3.5 to 6 centimeters.

The yellow flowers are tinged with reddish. They reach a length of 3 to 6 centimeters and have the same diameter. The approximately 3 to 4 centimeters long, yellow fruits are fleshy. They have a diameter of 1.5 to 2 centimeters.

Systematics and distribution

Ferocactus eastwoodiae is distributed in the United States in the state of Arizona in the Grand Canyon . It was first described as Ferocactus acanthodes var. Eastwoodiae in 1969 by Lyman David Benson . In 1982 he placed them in the genus Ferocactus .
