Ferry Eyot or Ferry Ait is an island in the Thames in England between Shiplake in Oxfordshire and Wargrave in Berkshire . The island lies upstream of the Marsh Lock and is part of Oxfordshire.

The island is named after the Bolney Ferry , which used to pull ships across the river at this point . In 1775 it was referred to as a cable ferry and the name of the place was recorded as Beggar's Hole (or Beggar's Hall ) after a room in Harpsden House that was demolished at the end of the 18th century.
