The FiSH film festival in Rostock city harbor (short: FiSH ) has been the short film festival successor to the BDFA national competition "Young Film" in Rostock since 2004 . The festival is hosted and organized by the Institut für neue Medien gGmbH and has been taking place every spring since 2004.

The FiSH consists of five program windows : the national JUNGER FILM competition including the annual guest country program, the SehSternen , the Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania Media Competence Prize , the PopFiSH music video prize and the ClickBait online talk show .

Current short films with a maximum duration of 30 minutes take part in the nationwide JUNGER FILM competition. The participating filmmakers must be under 27 years of age. The competition is characterized by public jury discussions that provide filmmakers and the audience with new insights.

Since 2005, the JUNGER FILM program has also included an international program, the OFF window, which takes a look at the young film scene in a neighboring country on the Baltic Sea. In the SehSterne part of the program , short and feature films, documentaries and reports from and about Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania , Germany and the Baltic Sea region are shown. The Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania Media Competence Prize is awarded annually by the Minister of Education together with the MV media authority and honors innovative media projects in the state. The best music video in the state of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania has been awarded the PopFiSH since 2014 . The online talk show ClickBait was presented at FiSH 2017, where filmmakers, YouTubers and media scholars meet. The regional association for film communication also awards the Findlingspreis at the film festival.

jury

Jury members in recent years have included Robert Thalheim , Andreas Dresen and Dietrich Brüggemann .

The jury decision does not take place, as usual, in camera. After the film has been screened, the jury members publicly discuss each film. The award of the jury prizes also takes place after a public vote.
