Festring Munich

The Festring München eV (before 2001: Verkehrsverein Festring München eV ) is a traditional association founded in 1938 and based in Munich .

The purpose of the association is pilgrimages and, above all, traditional events, especially with reference to the Oktoberfest :

the arrival of the landlords and breweries (arrival of the Oktoberfest hosts in Munich) with over 10,000 spectators annually and regular live broadcast by BR television . For this purpose, the association has provided the so-called Münchner Kindl (a woman who is supposed to represent the original; according to historicity, however, according to historicity it was a monk, i.e. a man), the Münchner Kindl rides in the lady's seat on horseback at the beginning of the train.
Costume and rifle parade on the occasion of the Munich Oktoberfest; this takes place the following day and begins at the Max II monument , the duration of this pageant is about two hours. The splendid teams of the Munich breweries, traditional costumes and music groups as well as sport and mountain shooters are presented.

Both major events are organized and carried out solely by the association.

Manfred Newrzella, who is also chairman of the Association of Munich Breweries , has been chairman since 2001 . The association is financially supported by the city administration of Munich .
