Euschel's main work with 7.5 cm cannons and observation

The fortress Euschels A 1743 (plan number 3068 b2) was a fortification on the border of the Swiss Redoubt at the southwest foot of the Kaiseregg . Euschel's lock point is a military monument of regional importance.

history

The fortress in the area of ​​the 1st Division consisted of three factories whose crews had the order to block the way from Schwarzsee towards Jaun , the Euschelspass .

The main plant "Gaston 2b" was equipped with two 7.5 cm fortress cannons Fk and machine guns Mg. There is a concrete water collection point above the main plant. A "Gaston 1" command post was integrated into the bunker at the mountain station of the military cable car.

The fortress included two counterworks east ("Gaston 2a") and west ("Gaston 2c") of the main plant, each with a tank rifle Tk (or infantry cannon ) and a machine gun Mg. The command post was armed with light machine guns Lmg.

The SB 7 military cable car ran from the village of Jaun up to the Euschels. The fortress cannons worked in the direction of Schwarzsee- Plaffeien . They should support the Customs House lock with artillery fire.

Lock point Chänelpass

The blocking point with the two rock works is located on Alp Chänel FR north of the Chänel Pass, a transition from Sangernboden / Hundsbühl to Waldried / Oberwil in the Simmental . The main work Weissefluh A 1734 had an accommodation area and was equipped with two 7.5-cm-field guns , a 4.7-cm-infantry cannon , a Mg 11 and a Lmg 25 armed. The counterwork Mutti A 1733 was equipped with two 4.7 cm infantry cannons and one Mg 11 and one Lmg 25 each. The weapons were brought by the section troops.
