The blocking point Wimmis-Stockhorn or Wimmis-Simmental-Gantrisch (Army designation no. 2125) of the Swiss Army was located in the Gantrisch area and the Stockhorn chain in the Simmental , Canton Bern . It is considered a military historical monument of national importance.

history

According to operation instruction no. 13 that ran Réduitgrenze ( "bulit Réduit") of the 1st Army Corps in June 1941 to the autumn of 1944 to the north and west by de Rochers Naye , Euschelspass , Kaiseregg , oxen , Stockhorn to Hohgant and de south from Rochers Naye up Wildhorn .

The 1st Division blocked the entrances from Wildhorn to Rochers de Naye and Euschelspass. Each regiment was reinforced with a field artillery division (12 7.5 cm cannons). The Geb Inf Rgt 7 (FR) formed the combat group Jaun , the Inf Rgt 3 (GE) was in the Pays-d'Enhaut ( Artillery Plant La Tine ). The 3rd Division had to block the Réduiteingânge along the northern and southern shores of Lake Thun.

In May 1941 the 2nd Division was withdrawn from its fortification work between Zihl (French: Thielle ) and Saane (French: Sarine ) and moved to the Reduit position between Stockhorn and Gastlosen .

The 2nd Division had to block in the north between Kaiseregg and Stockhorn and in the south between Wildhorn and Wildstrubel. Inf Rgt 1 and Geb Füs Bat 17 (Rawilpass) received the operational area from Upper Simmental to Alpenkamm. Inf Rgt 8 (NE) between Kaiseregg and Ochsen, Inf Rgt 13 (BE) between Ochsen and Stockhorn. Each regiment was reinforced with a field artillery division (12 7.5 cm cannons). After the sections had been occupied, construction of the fortresses began under the leadership of the Genie Chefs. The troops were responsible for the excavation, civil construction companies or sappers carried out blasting and engineering.

In 1947 the newly created Reduit Brigade 21 (R Br 21 «Berner Oberland») took over this area.

Blocking points Stockhorn-Gantrischkette

While the sections of the 1st and 3rd Divisions had few works, the 2nd Division had fortified the crossings of the Stockhorn-Gantrisch chain to prevent enemy troops from passing over the Réduit border into the Simmental. Works for 7.5 cm cannons were planned on the Stockhorn in the Oberstockensee area, which apparently were not built (credit numbers 9167 to 9169).

The lock on the foremost Réduit border at 1900  m above sea level. M. covered the transition from the Gurnigel area to the Simmental (Weissenburgberg).

The barrier consisted of two rock works and the Kummli infantry works.

Lock Widdersgrind

Artillery and observer station Bürglen A 2082

The Widdersgrind plant could not withstand a test fire in autumn 1946 because it and seven other bunkers (“soft bunkers”) were poorly concreted and cement was saved. Among other things, two civil contractors were sentenced to prison.

Lock point Chänelpass

The blocking point with the two rock works is located on Alp Chänel FR north of the Chänel Pass, a transition from Sangernboden / Hundsbühl to Waldried / Oberwil in the Simmental . The main plant in Weissefluh A 1734 had an accommodation area and was armed with two 7.5 cm field cannons 03/40 L 30n , one 4.7 cm infantry cannon , one Mg 11 and one Lmg 25 . The counterwork Mutti A 1733 was equipped with two 4.7 cm infantry cannons and one Mg 11 and one Lmg 25 each. The weapons were brought by the section troops.

The lock had to prevent a bypass of the Jaunpassstrasse above Jaun with three bunkers.
