The artillery plant La Tine (Army designation "If" A 1651) of the Swiss Army is located on the territory of the municipalities of Rossinière ( Riviera-Pays-d'Enhaut district , Canton of Vaud ) and Haut-Intyamon ( Gruyère district , Canton of Friborg ).

With around 20 infantry units, it formed the La Tine blocking point on the Réduit border from 1940. It is one of 37 blocking points in the canton of Friborg and is of national importance.

The Montbovon bottleneck forms the entrance to the Pays d'Enhaut and was the scene of a war as early as 1476. The impetus for the construction of the plant was given by the new army position in the Reduit ordered by General Guisan (Operation Orders No. 11, 12, 13).

The main barrier of the 1st Division was set up in accordance with Operation Order No. 13 at the reduit border defined in 1940 at the Montbovon bottleneck. The blocking point had the mandate to prevent circumvention. The works were created in 1941.

The blocking point went up from the bottleneck along the canton border between Friborg and Vaud in a north-easterly direction along the ridge towards Vanil Carré . The name was derived from the hamlet of La Tine in the municipality of Rossinière. Around 20 infantry units at 700  m fortified the Reduit border on the watershed and canton border. The entrances to the works were often in a different canton than their loopholes.

In addition to the artillery and infantry work (A 1651/1652), the blocking point consisted of the following infantry bunkers:

La Tine artillery plant

The artillery and infantry work La Tine on the left ("If" A 1651) and the infantry work La Tine on the right ("Frêne" A 1652) acted on the five tank barricades that blocked the road and rail axis of the valley cut. The works were located on both sides of the Saane and were connected by a suspension bridge that was attached under the cantonal road.

During the Cold War, the fortress belonged to the operational area of the Reduit Brigade 21 and then to the fortress division 14 in the fortress regiment 3. It was released from secrecy in 2002.

today

From the year 2000, the Swiss Army rented two bunkers in the La Tine gorge as cheese storage for the ripening of raclette cheese under ideal conditions.

The blocking point is on the road that leads from Rossinière through the gorge of Pissot to Etivaz . This narrowing allows the axis from Château-d'Oex to the Col des Mosses to be blocked with few resources.
