Fortress Division Danzig (Wehrmacht)
The Fortress Division Danzig was a short-lived large formation of the army of the German Wehrmacht during World War II .
Division history
The division was set up at the beginning of January 1945 in the West Prussian capital Danzig in Defense District I to defend the same ( strategy of permanent positions ). The division was initially included in Danzig. The division surrendered to the Red Army on March 28, 1945 in Danzig .
The commanding officer was Major General Walter Freytag .
