Appearance and wearing style

The fire service badge of honor as a service award is oval, openwork bronze, silver or gold and shows in the middle the colored state coat of arms flanked by stylized flames from a container as well as the inscription on the lower edge: FOR MERIT / IN THE FIREFIGHTERS . The back shows a vertically attached needle with a counter-hook. The service award is only worn at the highest level on the left chest of the recipient. Deviating from this is the special version for 45 years of service, which is surrounded by a wreath of oak leaves.

The fire brigade decorations on ribbon in silver and gold show a red enamelled Maltese cross with stylized flames on each cross corner and the state coat of arms in the middle. The edges of the flames and the cross are kept in the colors of the awarded level silver or gold. The badge of honor is worn on a red-white-red ribbon with a gold or silver border on the upper left side of the chest of the recipient. It can be worn parallel to a service award.

The badge of honor for extraordinary services as a plug-in cross shows the same cross as a ribbon order. In addition, however, the cross angles are connected to one another by a golden laurel wreath that is bent upwards. The cross is worn on the left side of the chest of the entrant next to the fire service award and below any fire service decorations on the ribbon.

The badge of honor for particularly courageous behavior shows the well-known cross and a closed golden oak leaf wreath. In this version, the flames are not applied to the cross arms, but instead held diagonally to the cross arms. The golden state coat of arms shines on a dark blue central medallion with a golden frame. This badge of honor is worn on the left side of the chest of the recipient.
