The fire brigade in Rhineland-Palatinate comprises the public and non-public fire brigades in Rhineland-Palatinate , their tasks, organization, resources and activities. The legal basis of the fire service is the state law on fire protection, general assistance and disaster control (Fire and Disaster Protection Act - LBKG -) , which is supplemented for public fire services by the Fire Service Ordinance .

The LBKG differentiates between public fire brigades (in the form of a professional fire brigade (BF), voluntary fire brigade (FF) or compulsory fire brigade ) (PF) and the non-public fire brigades, the plant fire brigades (WF).
