Ranks of the fire brigade in Rhineland-Palatinate
Volunteer firefighter
The requirements for transportation to Rhineland-Palatinate are specified in the Fire Brigade Ordinance. The minimum age is 16 years. When you join the volunteer fire brigade , you are appointed as a fire fighter candidate. After completing his squad training (two years, including a course), he is appointed as a firefighter. At the discretion of the local armed forces officer, a promotion to a senior fire fighter can take place. For the promotion to the main firefighter, the training to become a squad leader is required. A promotion to the fire-fighting supervisor can take place as a “squad leader, equipment manager and comparable functions”. The rank of chief fire officer is open to experienced troop leaders, the rank of chief fire officer is open to particularly experienced troop leaders. The promotion to the fire chief takes place after attending the group leader course, as is the promotion to the chief fire chief after successfully attending the train driver course. In March 2009, the new ranks "Oberlöschmeister" and "Hauptlöschmeister" as well as new rank badges were introduced in Rhineland-Palatinate. A change in the FwVO regarding the requirements for the new ranks took place on June 25, 2010.
