This article lists the ranks of the fire brigades in Saarland .

Voluntary fire brigade and plant fire brigade

The members of the volunteer fire brigades (FF) and the plant fire brigades (WF) are accepted as fire brigade candidates. After completing the squad training, the appointment as a firefighter takes place. The promotion to the fire-fighting supervisor requires a completed group leader training, the promotion to the fire supervisor requires a completed platoon leader training .

The mayor decides on promotions at the suggestion of the military leader ; the management of the company or facility decides on members of the works fire brigade. The following requirements apply in the volunteer fire brigade:

  • Fireman: Completed basic fire brigade training according to the applicable FwDV and two years of fire service (shortening possible by working in the youth fire service)
  • Senior firefighter: completed squad leader training and four years of service as a firefighter
  • Main firefighter: Promotion to senior firefighter and total service period of 15 years
  • Firefighting supervisor: Completed group leader training and at least one year of service as a senior firefighter (promotion to the main firefighter not necessary)
  • Senior fire-fighting master: one year service as fire-fighting master
  • Main extinguishing supervisor: five-year service as chief extinguishing supervisor
  • Fire supervisor: Completed train driver training and one year service as chief fire officer (promotion to chief fire officer not necessary)
  • Chief fire chief: two years of service as fire chief
  • Main fire chief: two years of service as chief fire chief

Rank badge according to the new VV uniform 2015

The administrative regulation on fire fighting clothing in Saarland came into force on April 1, 2015. Uniforms including the rank and function badges according to the old service regulations (see below) can still be worn.

The rank badges for the members of the volunteer fire brigades and the plant fire brigades consist of a pair of shoulder flaps described below.

The shoulder boards for volunteer members of the municipal fire brigade and part-time members of the plant fire brigade wear red circular piping as well as rank stars, function stars and function symbols in the form of bars or graphic representations.

  • (Works) fire department candidate: no rank star
  • (Works) firefighter: a red rank star
  • (Works) chief fire fighter: two red rank stars
  • (Works) main firefighter: three red rank stars

Management ranks:

  • (Works) extinguishing supervisor: a red and silver rank star
  • (Werk-) Oberlöschmeister / -in: two red and silver rank stars
  • (Works) main extinguishing supervisor: three red and silver rank stars
  • (Works) fire chief: a silver rank star
  • (Works) chief fire chief: two silver rank stars
  • (Werk-) Hauptbrandmeister / -in: three silver rank stars

Function badge:

  • Deputy Head of Department, Deputy Fire Department Leader: 2 mm thick wire below the rank
  • Head of department, firefighting district leader: 2 strands, each 2 mm thick, below the rank
  • Deputy head, deputy military leader, fire fighting section leader: 3 strands, each 2 mm thick, below the rank
  • Leader, military leader: 4 strands, each 2 mm thick, below the rank
  • District fire supervisor, regional association fire supervisor: 1 golden functional star with oak leaves
  • Fire inspector: 2 golden functional stars with oak leaves
  • State fire inspector: 3 golden functional stars with oak leaves
  • State Fire Brigade Association Chairman: 3 golden functional stars
  • State Fire Brigade Association Deputy Chairman: 3 silver functional stars
  • District fire brigade associations Chairman: 2 golden functional stars
  • District fire brigade associations vice chairman: 2 silver functional stars
  • Representative for the youth fire brigade, level extinguishing district: red youth flame
  • Officer for the youth fire brigade, community level: silver youth flame
  • Officer for the youth fire brigade, level community association / district: golden youth flame
  • Officer for the youth fire brigade, land level: golden youth flame with oak leaves

  • Head of the music train or staff leader: silver lyre
  • Kreisstabführer / -in: silver lyre, 1 silver functional star
  • Landesstabführer / -in: golden lyre, 1 golden functional star
  • Fire brigade chaplain: silver four-pointed star as an outline
  • Fire brigade doctor: silver Aesculapian staff

The rank badges for members of the volunteer fire brigades and the plant fire brigades consist of a pair of collar tabs described below.

Collar tab made of black cloth with the following piping:

  • Infantry red for fire brigade candidates up to the chief fire chief of the volunteer fire brigade
  • light blue for fire brigade candidates up to the main fire chief of the plant fire brigade
  • silver-colored for plant fire inspector / plant fire chief inspector
  • gold-colored for fire inspectors, clergymen and doctors

  • for fire brigade candidates up to chief fire officer without oak leaf wreath,
  • For fire chief to main fire chief and plant fire inspector / plant fire chief inspector with matt-gloss silver-colored oak leaf wreath.

The ranks also differ according to the bars on the collar tabs, the collar tabs of the volunteer fire brigade are shown below, which differ from those of the plant fire brigade only in the color of the piping. The piping of the collar tabs of the plant fire brigade is light blue, as are the bars for the team ranks.

Requirements:

  • Firefighting supervisor at least completed group leader training
  • Fire supervisor at least completed platoon driver training
  • Fire inspector and state fire inspector at least fire supervisor, training as an association leader and the course “head of a fire brigade” must be proven within two years of appointment.
  • Factory fire inspector at least one year service as fire supervisor and successful participation in a fire inspector course for professional fire departments.
  • Factory fire chief inspector for at least one year as a factory fire inspector.

These are worn as sleeve badges on the left sleeve of the service jacket (distance from the edge of the sleeve approx. 90 mm).

Contrary to the administrative regulation on the uniform of the fire brigade, some volunteer fire brigades in Saarland use different rank badges on their HuPF jackets based on the rank badges of the officials of the fire service of the professional fire brigade (BF) and the state fire brigade school (LFS). These are worn on the lower left sleeve.

  • gold border and gold rank stars for the higher fire service

At the professional fire brigade and the Saarland fire brigade school , the rank badges are worn as sleeve badges on a rectangular plate made of black basic cloth on the left lower sleeve of the service jacket. The ranks differ in the color and number of bars and the color of the surrounding strand as follows:

  • Infantry red wire for the middle fire service
  • Silver-colored wire for the upscale fire service
  • Gold-colored wire for the higher fire service
