Volunteer firefighter

Depending on the level of training and function, a grade is assigned, whereby it is not absolutely necessary that one must have completed all of the courses mentioned below - apart from the basic training - for the respective grade.

Team ranks

  • Fireman candidate (not completed basic training)
  • Fireman (completed basic training)
  • Chief firefighter (machinist, respirator , squad leader)
  • Main firefighter (almost no longer exists in active service, is only assigned to members who held the rank in their former service outside of Hamburg; but will be appointed fire chief as soon as possible)
  • Fire chief (squad leader, machinist, respiratory protection, radio operator, other special courses)

Leadership ranks

  • Chief fire chief (such as fire chief and group leader course )
  • Main fire supervisor (like chief fire supervisor and corresponding function (even without train driver training ))

Selected leadership ranks

The elected management ranks are relinquished at the end of the term of office, the former manager has the rank of fire inspector. In the honorary department, on the other hand, counts the highest rank ever achieved. A former area manager carries z. B. the badge of a fire inspector, when transferring to the honorary department he becomes area manager a. D. and again wears the badge of an area manager.

  • Fire inspector (deputy military leader must be elected by the fire brigade for six years, courses: including platoon leaders, leaders of associations ; former command services)
  • Wehrführer (must be elected by the fire brigade for six years, courses: including platoon leader, head of a fire brigade, on duty platoon leader as leader of a volunteer fire brigade (FF) with 2 LF groups)
  • Area manager representative (military leader who exercises his operational function if the area manager is prevented from doing so)
  • Area leader (administrator of all fire brigades in his area, for operations with at least 2 volunteer fire brigades in his area he becomes the leader of all volunteer fire brigades at the site)
  • State youth fire department supervisor and representative (represents the interests of the Hamburg youth fire department internally and externally. He is responsible for the coordination and cooperation of the Hamburg youth fire departments)
  • Regional area leader representatives north and south (introduced since 2005; supports the regional area leader in his work and represents him in the emergency service; to be found at the deployment site from 3-4 FF)
  • Regional area leader (head of the volunteer fire brigade Hamburg, depending on the situation, is called from the 4th alarm or if more than 4 fire fighters at the site)

There are no sleeve badges, apart from the state coat of arms ( professional fire brigade and volunteer fire brigade of the same type), no functional, period of service or other sleeve badges.

The chief fire chief with official allowance is not a rank, but a position.

The fire inspector candidate is not a rank, the promotion officers are still BM / OBM / HBM with the appropriate addition BIA.
