The Togwotee Pass is a 2944  m high mountain pass in the Absaroka Mountains in the United States of America . It is located between the towns of Dubois and Moran in the Jackson Hole Valley . The pass is crossed by US Highways 26 and 287 , which unite 120 kilometers southeast of the pass near Crowheart , run together to 40 kilometers west of the pass and branch off at Moran. The pass is part of the Continental Divide and also forms the border between the Absaroka Range in the north and the Wind River Range in the south. The pass road crosses these mountain ranges between Breccia Peak ( 3356  m ) in the north and Two Oceans Mountain ( 3269  m ) in the southwest.

The pass provides direct access to Grand Teton National Park from east Wyoming. From the western slopes of the pass there is a wide view of the Teton Range .

The pass is located in the Bridger-Teton National Forest near the Shoshone National Forest border . In winter it is affected by heavy snowfall and is therefore a popular destination for snowmobiles and cross-country skiers . The pass is crossed by the Continental Divide Snowmobile Trail and can often reach snow depths of over 760 cm per winter. The record height so far was over 15 m . If blizzards occur, the road may be closed for several days.

The pass was named after Chief Togwotee, who led a US government research expedition over the pass in 1873. Chief Togwotee was a subchief of the Sheepeater tribe, which belonged to the Shoshone tribe .

A ski slope at Jackson Hole Ski Resort is also known as the Togwotee Pass.
