Feza Günergun
Feza Günergun (* 1956 in Istanbul ) is a Turkish scientist for the history of science .
Feza Günergun is the daughter of the botanists Turhan and Asuman Baytop . After attending the French girls' high school Notre Dame de Sion Fransız Kız Lisesi , she studied chemical engineering at Istanbul University until 1980 . This was followed by studies at the Department of History of Medicine and Ethics of the Medical Faculty of Istanbul University, which Günergun received in 1984 with a dissertation as an M.Sc. Dr. completed.
She started as a research assistant in 1985 in the Department of History of Natural Sciences at Istanbul University Faculty of Arts and Philosophy. In 1987 Günergun was appointed Assistant Professor, in 1993 "Associate Professor of History of Science", and in 1998 Professor. In 1997 she went to Kyōto University , Japan, as a visiting professor .
In January 2001 Feza Günergun was appointed to the chair for the history of science. Between 1989 and 2000 she was General Secretary of the Turkish Society for the History of Science, and Vice President of Istanbul University from 1994 to 1998.
