T. Jefferson Parker
T. Jefferson Parker (* 1953 in Los Angeles , California ) is an American journalist and detective writer (the "T" in his name is irrelevant, it was added by his parents for visual reasons).
Life
Parker grew up in Orange County , Southern California, where he attended a state school before studying English at the University of California at Irvine, California . In 1976 he completed his university studies with a bachelor's degree .
At The Newport Ensign , a weekly newspaper from Newport Beach , whose publication was discontinued in 1989, he began 1978 as a junior reporter and was mainly used for police coverage. His move to the Daily Pilot earned him three Orange County Press Club Awards , an award for excellent press coverage.
Parker began collecting material for his first novel while still working as a journalist and wrote in his spare time. With Laguna Heat ( Eng . Fire killer ) he published his first, immediately successful novel in 1985, which was made into a film by Simon Langton in 1987 (Eng. Title: Laguna burns) . Parker was inducted into the ranks of eminent alumni at the University of California in 1992.
