T. Jefferson Parker Book Award

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The T. Jefferson Parker Book Award is presented annually by The Southern California Independent Booksellers Association (SCIBA) for the best detective novel of the previous year in the Mystery & Thrillers category. The award is only given to writers residing in California ; the award takes place at an annual SCIBA event, the Authors Feast & Trade Show (AFATS). SCIBA is a regional, non-profit organization of booksellers, publishers, and other literature-related companies located in southern California and southern Nevada .

The namesake of the award was the journalist and detective writer T. Jefferson Parker , three-time winner of the Edgar Allan Poe Award (2002, 2005 and 2009). He was born in Los Angeles , grew up there, studied, worked there and still lives in California today. Parker's novels are also set in his native California and earned him SCIBA recognition.
