Fibroleiomyoma

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

A fibroleiomyoma is a benign mixed tumor that consists of a tumorous degeneration of two cell types, namely smooth muscle cells (→ leiomyoma ) and fibroblasts (→ fibroma ). Fibroleiomyomas are relatively common in bitches and female cats on the mating organs ( vagina , vaginal vestibule , labia ). In the cytological picture, they show the typical features of benign mesenchymal tumors: fish-like, elongated cells (“spindle cell tumor”) without any malignancy criteria .
