Fidel Martínez (born February 15, 1990 in Nueva Loja , Sucumbíos ) is an Ecuadorian football player who mainly acts in midfield .

Life

Martínez began his professional career in 2007 at Independiente del Valle and then moved to the Brazilian club Cruzeiro Belo Horizonte .

At the beginning of 2010 he returned to his homeland and was under contract with Sociedad Deportivo Quito , with which he won the national championship in 2011 .

In 2012 he signed with the Mexican Club Tijuana , with whom he immediately won the Mexican championship in the Apertura 2012 .

He made his debut for the Ecuadorian national team on October 15, 2013 in a World Cup qualifier against Chile , which was lost 2-1. Martínez is part of his home country's 2014 World Cup squad .
