Fidelis Rakotonarivo

Fidelis Rakotonarivo SJ (born August 28, 1956 in Ambohimahazo near Ambositra , Madagascar ) is a Malagasy Jesuit and bishop of Ambositra in Madagascar.

Life

Rakotonarivo attended the small seminary in Kianjasoa (Fianarantsoa) and then entered the novitiate of the Society of Jesus in Antananarivo . He studied philosophy in the Democratic Republic of the Congo , theology in Nairobi and spirituality in Canada . He was ordained a priest on August 15, 1992 .

After ordination , he was spiritual at the Collège St. François Xavier in Fianarantsoa (1992–1995), spiritual and economist at the interdiocesan seminary in Vohitsoa Fianarantsoa (1995–1998) and superior of the religious community in Fianarantsoa (1998–2001). Since 2001 he has been the Superior of the Ambositra Community and Provincial Consultor.

Pope Benedict XVI appointed him second bishop of the Diocese of Ambositra in 2005 . He was ordained episcopate on September 4, 2005, by the Archbishop of Fianarantsoa Fulgence Rabemahafaly ; Co- consecrators were Fulgence Rabeony SJ, Archbishop of Toliara, and Philibert Randriambololona SJ, Old Archbishop of Fianarantsoa.
