Philibert Randriambololona

Philibert Randriambololona SJ (born May 1, 1927 in Anjozorobe , Madagascar ; † April 17, 2018 in Antananarivo , Madagascar) was a Malagasy religious and Roman Catholic Archbishop of Fianarantsoa .

Life

Philibert Randriambololona joined the congregation of the Jesuits on October 10, 1952 and was ordained a priest on July 30, 1961 after his theological training . He made his perpetual profession on February 2, 1968 .

Pope John Paul II appointed him coadjutor bishop of Antsirabé on September 1, 1988 . The Archbishop of Antananarivo , Cardinal Victor Razafimahatratra , donated him episcopal ordination on November 27 of the same year ; Co - consecrators were Jean-Maria Rakotondrasoa MS , Bishop of Antsirabé, and Archbishop Agostino Marchetto , Apostolic Pro-Nuncio in Madagascar and Mauritius .

When Jean-Maria Rakotondrasoas MS retired on June 19, 1989, he succeeded him as Bishop of Antsirabé. On December 17, 1992 he was appointed Archbishop of Fianarantsoa. On October 1, 2002, Pope John Paul II accepted his age-related resignation.
