The Bistum Antsirabé ( lat. : Dioecesis Antsirabensis ) is in Madagascar preferred Roman Catholic diocese based in Antsirabé .

history

Cathedral in Antsirabe

The diocese of Antsirabé was established on May 15, 1913 by Pope Pius X from the cession of territory of the Apostolic Vicariate of Central Madagascar as the Apostolic Prefecture Betafó . On August 24, 1918, the Apostolic Prefecture Betafó was by Pope Benedict XV. with the Apostolic Constitution Laeto semper accipimus raised to the Apostolic Vicariate . The Apostolic Vicariate Betafó was renamed on January 10, 1921 in Apostolic Vicariate Antsirabé . On January 8, 1938, the Apostolic Vicariate Antsirabé gave parts of its territory to the establishment of the Apostolic Prefecture of Morondava .

The Apostolic Vicariate Antsirabé was on September 14, 1955 by Pope Pius XII. raised to a diocese with the Apostolic Constitution Dum tantis and subordinated to the Archdiocese of Tananarive as a suffragan .
