Antsirabe (German: "where there is a lot of salt") is a city in Madagascar with 238,478 inhabitants (as of 2013). It is the capital of the Vakinankaratra region in the Antananarivo province .

The city is about 1500 meters above sea ​​level . After Fianarantsoa, ​​it is the most important center in Betsileo country. During the colonial days Antsirabe was called the Vichy of Madagascar because of its thermal springs .

Mohammed V and his son, who later became King Hassan II of Morocco , lived here in French exile in 1955 .
