The Bistum Morondava ( lat. : Dioecesis Miarinarivensis ) is in Madagascar preferred Roman Catholic diocese based in Morondava .
history
Pope Pius XI founded the Apostolic Prefecture Morondava on January 8, 1938 from cessions of the Apostolic Vicariate Fianarantsoa , Mahajanga and Antananarivo .
With the Apostolic Constitution Dum tantis it was raised on September 14, 1955 to the diocese, which was subordinated to the Archdiocese of Fianarantsoa as a suffragan. It lost part of its territory on April 25, 1960 in favor of the establishment of the diocese of Morombe . On December 3, 2003, it became part of the ecclesiastical province of Toliara.
On February 8, 2017, there were territorial shares in the scope of two parishes to establish the diocese of Maintirano .
