Morondava is a city on the west coast of Madagascar with approximately 33,000 inhabitants. The name means where the coast is long .
geography
Morondava is located 8 m above sea level on the west coast of Madagascar in the Menabe region , in the Toliara province . To the south of the city is a river delta where the Morondava and Kabatomena rivers meet and flow into the Mozambique Strait . The Kirindy-Mitea National Park is about 60 km south of Morondava. The Baobaballee , an avenue 20-25 baobab trees , located a few kilometers north of the city.

Economy and Infrastructure
The inhabitants, the majority of whom belong to the Sakalava people , make their living from agriculture and fishing. Morondava also has a shipyard. In agriculture, rice, maize, cassava , cotton and sugar are mainly grown, and zebus are bred.
