Victor Cardinal Razafimahatratra SJ (born September 8, 1921 in Ambanitsilena-Ranomasina , Madagascar , † October 6, 1993 in Antananarivo ) was a Malagasy religious and Roman Catholic Archbishop of Antananarivo .

Life

Victor Razafimahatratra studied after his school days in the seminary of Fianarantsoa the subjects Catholic theology and philosophy . In 1945 he entered the Jesuit order and continued his studies in Belgium Brussels continues. On July 28, 1956, he received the sacrament of priestly ordination and, after further studies, became the governor of the boys' seminary of Fianarantsoa in 1960 . On February 2, 1963, he made his solemn profession in the Jesuit order and was appointed superior of the Jesuit branch in Amboistra . From 1969 to 1971 he headed the Fianarantsoa seminary as Regens.

On January 16, 1971, Pope Paul VI appointed him . to the Bishop of Farafangana . He received his episcopal ordination on April 18 of the same year by the Archbishop of Fianarantsoa , Gilbert Ramanantoanina SJ. Co- consecrators were the Archbishop of Diégo-Suarez , Albert Joseph Tsiahoana , and the Bishop of Fort-Dauphin , Jean-Pierre-Dominique Zévaco CM .

Pope Paul VI appointed him on April 10, 1976. to the Archbishop of Antananarivo. On May 24 of the same year he accepted him as a cardinal priest with the titular church of Santa Croce in Gerusalemme in the college of cardinals . Victor Razafimahatratra died on October 6, 1993 in Atananarivo.
