Fidelma Healy Eames

Fidelma Healy Eames is an Irish politician (non-party, previously Fine Gael ).

Fidelma Healy Eames attended Carysfort College in Blackrock and studied at Western Connecticut State University in the United States and the National University of Ireland, Galway . During her studies she received a Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.), a Master of Science (M.Sc.) and a Ph.D. She has now worked as a primary school teacher, worked as a college lecturer in teacher training and eventually founded her own company FHE Education & Training Providers in Oranmore .

In 2002 she ran unsuccessfully for a seat in the Dáil Éireann . In the local elections in 2004 Healy Eames was elected to the Galway County Council and belonged to this until 2007, when she moved to the same after her election to the Seanad Éireann . In 2013 she was expelled from Fine Gael after voting against the Protection of Life During Pregnancy Act . In 2016 she refused to run again for a seat in the Seanad Eireann.

Healy Eames is married with two children.
