The Western Connecticut State University (also Western , WestConn or WCSU called) is a state university in Danbury in the northern US state of Connecticut . About 6000 students are currently enrolled.

history

The college was founded in 1893 as Danbury Normal School . After several name changes, it was given its current name in 1983.

research

WCSU includes the Jane Goodall Center for Excellence in Environmental Studies , a research center for nature conservation, the environment and wildlife, named after the British behavioral scientist Jane Goodall .

Sports

The Western Connecticut State University sports teams are the Colonials . The college is a member of the Eastern College Athletic Conference .
