The University of New Haven is a private university in West Haven , Connecticut on the east coast of the United States.

Announcement of the name change in 1970

The college was originally founded in 1920 as "New Haven YMCA Junior College", a branch of the Northeastern University of Boston. Business administration and engineering training were the focus. At that time there was close cooperation with Yale University . The college became independent in 1926 and has since operated as "New Haven College". It was not until 1970 that the college was officially recognized as a university, which in turn was associated with a name change to the current name "University of New Haven".
