Ingrid Steeger sings Klimbim is the only music album by actress Ingrid Steeger . It appeared in 1975 and was created as part of the television program Klimbim (1973–1979).

background

Ingrid Steeger from 1973 was the star of the German comedy - TV series Klimbim . In order to benefit from the popularity of the slippery-frivolous television series, the West German Broadcasting Corporation decided to publish a record with the leading actress. Ingrid Steeger was lured into being marketed as the “German Marilyn Monroe ”. Although she couldn't sing at the time and her high voice was disguised on the show, she went into the studio with producer Abi Ofarim . He composed most of the songs with his guitar and taught Steeger the lyrics. Overall, the work on it took between four and five weeks. A young Harold Faltermeyer was involved as a sound engineer . The instruments were played by Munich studio musicians (including Paul Vincent ). Since Steeger lacked any breathing technique, the recordings were very difficult for her.

Music genre

Most of the songs composed by Abi Ofarim are somewhere between chansons and hits . Influences from ragtime , waltz , funk and mood music can also be heard. On the one hand, the texts are frivolous, on the other hand, relative slang . Ingrid Steeger's voice changes between squeaky and breathy and is far from being a real singing voice.

The album was released in 1975 as a record and music cassette on the radio play label Europa . 35 years later a CD version was released on the independent label Sireena Records, including a bonus track.

criticism

Today the work is more of a curiosity than a real music album. Due to the rather “stupid” and, on the other hand, rather frivolous lyrics, the album can be of interest to nostalgics and trash fans. Stephan Schelle from Musik Zirkus Magazin stated that the album had “a certain weird and yet cult charm. It is aimed more at lovers and friends of the somewhat bizarre taste. "
