figurations. gender literatur kultur is a cultural studies journal in which current debates on culture, literature and gender are discussed.
The magazine figurationen , founded in 1999, is published twice a year by Böhlau-Verlag. It is edited by Barbara Naumann . Each issue is dedicated to a particular topic and contains at least one literary or artistic contribution. figurationen is international, interdisciplinary and multilingual, usually with most of the text in German.
The individual issues are designed by changing guest editors. In figurations u. a. Judith Butler , Sander L. Gilman , Elfriede Jelinek , Jean-Luc Nancy , Yōko Tawada and Slavoj Žižek . The journal has been associated with the Swiss Society for Cultural Theory and Semiotics (SGKS) since 2013 . The editorial office is at the University of Zurich.
